Butler Lady Bears Varsity Claims Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Windsor

Butler Lady Bears Varsity snagged a late lead and defeated Windsor 15-11 on Monday, April 9th. The game was tied at seven with Butler Bears Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Olivia Fischer singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Butler Bears Varsity collected 25 hits and Windsor had 17 in the high-scoring affair.

Windsor took an early lead in the first inning when Allanna Wilson grounded out and scored one run.

In the top of the fourth inning, Butler Lady Bears Varsity tied things up at seven when Lilli Colburn drew a walk and scored one run.

After Butler Lady Bears Varsity scored two runs in the top of the second, Windsor answered with two of their own. Butler Lady Bears Varsity scored when Chelsey Ketron tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Jayde Eidson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Windsor then answered when Courtney Johnson doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, and Randi Renno grounded out, scoring one run.

Eidson toed the rubber for Butler Lady Bears Varsity. She went two innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Butler Lady Bears Varsity collected 25 hits. Fischer, Ketron, Eidson, Claire Sutton, Katelyn McCrary, Colburn, and Alexis Lewis each racked up multiple hits for Butler Lady Bears Varsity. Sutton, Eidson, Ketron, and Fischer each collected four hits to lead Butler Lady Bears Varsity. Butler Lady Bears Varsity tore up the base paths, as six players stole at least two bases. McCrary led the way with seven.

Also a congratulations to Chelsey Ketron who went 4 for 4 at the plate last night. She completed the cycle with one single, one double, one triple, and an out of the park home run. She scored 2 runs and collected 4 RBIs. She also headed to the mound in the 3rd inning to help the Lady Bears capture the win and close out the game. Windsor collected 11 hits. She gave up 2 walks and struck out 3 batters. She gave her all last night in bitter cold temperatures and helped lead her team to a win.

The Butler Lady Bears hosts Drexel tonight, April 10th, at home. The game starts at 4:30pm.
