Donations are being accepted to raise funds for local author’s dream . $4612 dollars is needed to turn the heartfelt book,” Life Unarmed” into a screenplay, which could later become a movie. The book is the life of Diana Taylor of Butler, as a 4 year old child, Diana was electrocuted and lost an arm and a leg, in the accident. Her book depicts her challenges and how she overcame being teased and bullied , how she raised a child and kept a full time job. Diana’s dream is to be a spokesman to encourage others with disabilities. The deadline to apply for the screen play is August 1st. Any donations over the 4,700 dollars will be donated to the Carpenters Cup Christian Book and Gift Store. Donations may be made to Community First Bank of Butler. . As a community we can help her reach her dream. Donations in any amount will be appreciated. As a community…. We can do this! As of June 10th the community has raised $2,100.00 dollars toward the price of the screen play

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
