The Butler Parks and Recreation Department’s 2019 Holiday Home Decorating contest is open to all residents who use the city of Butler’s electricity. You must register to be in the contest. All entry forms must be in by 5 pm on Monday, December 9th. One first, second and third place prize awarded for the entire town of Butler. The first-place winner will receive $100 dollars off their electric bill, second- place $75.00 off and third-place $50.00 off their electric bill. All qualified entrants will receive $10.00 dollars off their bill for the billing period of December 15th to January 15th of 2020. Prizes will be deducted from the electric portion of the city utility bill only. The Display must be 500 lights or more to qualify for the contest. Enter your home before the December 9th deadline. Judging will be December 14th. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
