Huckster’s Day for the city of Butler will be held on October 3rd. There are 3 events that need prior attention and preparation. Number one is for those wanting to reserve booth space, call Executive Director Barbara Lawrence for rental information. Number 2 is the Huckster’s Day Chili Cook Off.. no entry fee and prizes will be awarded in three categories. Number 3 is the Cinnamon Roll Contest.. no cash entry… 1 roll to be used for judging and a dozen that will be sold as the entry fee. The baby contest and talent contest need prior notification, that can be done the morning of Huckster’s Day. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
