Cass Co – The Cass County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges today relating to the death of 18-year-old Vernece Brown of Kansas City, Missouri. Brown’s body was found in a wooded area on S. Mopac Road near Harrisonville in April of 2018 by mushroom hunters.
Vernece Brown went missing on February 14, 2018 in Kansas City.Detectives with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas City Missouri Police Department continued to work on the investigation over the last 3 years.
Prosecutors charged Kenneth B. Wilson, 32, Kansas City, KS with First Degree Murder. Wilson is currently in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
“I am very proud of the work our deputies and investigators did in this case. Hard work by determined investigators identified a suspect and lead to these charges,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
