The City of Butler Police Department is accepting applications for a full-time (night) position in the Police Department for a Communications Officer. The base probationary salary is $34,600 per year with employer fully paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance and the MO LAGERS Retirement system. Successful candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, and a valid driver’s license. Duties include, but are not limited to: receiving, processing, transmitting, and/or dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, emergency medical, and other public safety services via telephone and other communication devices. Effective oral and written communication skills, sensitivity to working with confidential material; flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing environment and priorities; positive attitude, integrity, and excellent judgement. Work schedule includes assignments to the night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Pre-employment and random post-employment drug testing are required. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
