On 05/23/2020 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Clinton Police Officers were dispatched to the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in reference to a report of a gunshot wound. 36-year-old Clinton resident Christopher Herron was contacted and found to have an injury in his abdomen. Clinton Detectives were able to confirm that the incident occurred at Herron’s residence, 603 South Orchard Street. Herron was transported via air ambulance to Research Hospital in Kansas City. Investigation continues in the case, but currently, all indications are that the wound was accidentally self-inflicted. Clinton Police Officers and Detectives were assisted by Henry County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
