Carol Ann Winburn and the staff at DSWA CPAs in Butler are pleased to report another successful year for the Coats for Kids program. People throughout Bates County have been making contributions, and nominations for kids to receive brand-new warm coats have been provided by eight schools and two Head Starts. Carol Ann and the staff purchased, wrapped, and tagged two hundred thirty-eight (238) new coats and jackets for delivery to the schools just before Thanksgiving break.
DSWA is very grateful to all the contributors and held a drawing on Monday, Dec. 19 from the list of all who participated so far this year. The winner of a Ninja Nutri-Blender was Hugh Jenkins of Butler, who has been a generous supporter of the program for many years.
A big thank you goes out to the school nurses, teachers and administrators, who submit the names of deserving students and younger siblings who need coats, then see that they fit and are appropriate for each youngster. DSWA appreciates the helpful discount for coats and jackets purchased at the local Wal-Mart in Butler.
Of course, what really determines the success of the project is the caring and generosity of local organizations and individuals who make donations year after year. You may still contribute, as the collection has already begun for 2023. Because of Coats for Kids, there are 238 Bates County school children who will be happy and warm this winter.
