Deputies Take Gun Fire in Rockville

At approximately 4 pm on Friday, March 27th, deputies were called to Rockville in reference to a male subject pointing a gun at a neighbor driving down the road.

On arrival deputies were advised the subject was possibly suicidal. While deputies waited for additional units the subject fled the residence to a wooded area behind the residence. Shortly after the subject fled the residence deputies started taking gun fire. Bates County Sheriffs Emergency Response Team was activated and responded to the area. An additional tactical team from Cass County was requested and responded. A call for assistance was placed to neighboring agencies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Deputies from Cass County, Vernon County, St Clair County and MSHP responded.

After about 3 hours, the subject surrendered without incident and was then transported to the Bates County Sheriffs Office.
