El Dorado Springs Police and MSHP Searching for Hit and Run Driver

On October 16th around 8:15 p.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County, along with Cedar County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a hit and run accident involving an Amish buggy and a vehicle that fled the scene. It appears that someone in a red GMC 1500, judging by the parts left at the scene of the crime, was involved in the hit and run accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on MO 97 about 7 miles north of Jerico Springs, Missouri when an Amish buggy, driven by 23 year old Johnny C. Schwartz of El Dorado Springs, was stuck from behind by a unknown vehicle that fled the scene of the accident.

A passenger in the buggy, 18 year old Elizabeth A. Schwartz of El Dorado Springs, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield in serious condition.

We need to help find this person. A person saw them heading north bound after the accident. If you know who this is contact Law Enforcement or if you see the truck, call 911.
