On Wednesday September 22, 2021 at approximately 7:05 p.m., officers from the Nevada Police Department and Vernon County Sheriffs Office responded to a parking lot in the 2400 block of E. Austin Boulevard for a report of gunshots fired. Responding emergency personnel located one male subject inside a vehicle that had sustained gunshot wounds.
The male subject was transported from the scene by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center. The male subject, identified as Justin Goolsby, age 32 of Nevada was later pronounced dead at Nevada Regional Medical Center. One subject was taken into police custody near the scene and has been identified as Steven Vignolo, age 62 of Nevada.
On September 23, 2021, the following charges were filed against Steven Vignolo through the Vernon County Associate Court: Murder 1st Degree – Class A Felony Armed Criminal Action – Unclassified Felony Vignolo is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail without bond.
