A fatality Crash in Cass County took the lives of four and caused serious injuries in another in Cass County. The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the two vehicle crash at MO-7 at Route Z at 10:30am on Monday, August 2nd.
The crash occurred when the 2000 Peterbilt tractor trailer, driven by Everett E. Ashley, 59, of Lowry City Mo, traveled down an embankment into the Northbound lanes of MO-7. The front of Mr. Ashley’s vehicle struck the passenger side of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Stephen W. Bennett, a 61-year-old male from Junction City Kansas.
Both vehicles traveled into the median and struck the guardrail, causing the tractor trailer to overturn.
Both drivers passed away at the scene. Everett E. Ashley was pronounced by Mark Lopez of the Garden City Fire Department. Stephen W. Bennett was pronounced at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville by Dr. Chris Beever.
Occupants of the Pathfinder included Gerald R. Dittman, a 68-year-old male from Hope Kansas, and Jean M Pariseau, a 71-year-old female from Herinton, Kansas. Both were pronounced at the scene by Mark Lopez of the Garden City Fire Department. Dakota M. Engel a 29-year-old male from Junction City sustained serious injuries and was transformed to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by J’s Southland.
