Fire in Adrian Displaces Family of 5

Gary Disney from the Adrian Fire Department reported

On Tuesday evening, January 25th, the Adrian Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 16:53 hours for a reported garage fire with a house in danger. Fire units arrived finding a detached garage with a heavy fire load & fully involved with fire extending to the home and multiple other exposures. A residence to the north of the involved structure suffered heat damage to a small outbuilding but did not burn. The garage and the home were a total loss and displaced a family of five. Two adults and three children. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature and caused from a wood burning stove located in the garage. There were no injuries to report.

Adrian Fire responded with, two engines, one tanker, one rescue truck, one brush truck and 13 personnel.

Butler Fire responded with an engine and a ladder truck and 7 personnel.

Central Cass responded with an engine and 3 personnel.

Bates County EMS responded one ambulance with 2 personnel.

Garden City EMS responded one ambulance with 2 personnel.

Drexel Fire responded with an engine and a brush truck and six personnel. They assisted on the scene while keeping their apparatus in service, and they were assigned to be first out response for any additional calls that Adrian may have gotten.

The Adrian Fire Department would like to thank these departments for their response, and we would also like to recognize and thank the citizens who offered to help when & where needed. In saying that, and for as much as we appreciate neighbors helping neighbors, we want to remind everyone to always keep your safety in mind as your number one priority when trying to help, and please keep the roadways open to allow room for the responding emergency vehicles.
