Forrest Routen, 47 of Butler, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at his home in Butler.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 26, 2022, also at the Drexel Chapel. Burial will follow in Virginia Cemetery. Forrest Lee Routen was born February 9, 1975 in Kansas City, Kansas to Kenneth and Betty Webb Routen. He grew up in Drexel, Missouri graduating from Drexel High School. Later, in 2009 he graduated from Cass County Police academy and began working for the Bates County Missouri Sheriffs Department. He then went to work as a reserve officer for the City of Drexel in 2010. He was honored as the Law Enforcement officer of the Year in 2015 and was hired full time in December of 2016. In February of 2018 Forrest was promoted to the Drexel Chief of Police.

Forrest loved to fish and shoot firearms He also spent a lot of time on the country back roads. In his spare time, he could often be found on a tractor around the family farm.

Forrest was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Routen, and grandparensts, Kenneth Routen, Annabelle Routen, and Jennie Webb. He is survived by his mother Betty Routen of the home in Butler, MO., daughter Crystal Routen and Fiancé Bub Mckellips of Butler, MO., son Forrest Routen, Jr., and girlfriend Alicia Keippel of Sperry, OK., ex-wife Shelly Clark of Tulsa, OK., and by his fiancé Haddi Roehrs and her daughter Hadley Carson all of Butler, MO.
