Missouri Highway Patrol responded to a three-car injury accident on Tuesday, March 1st at 9:30pm on US 54 Highway .5 miles east of Deerfield in Vernon County.
The accident occurred when a 2012 Ford F150 driven by Kirsten Griffith, 37 of Fort Scoot Kansas, was headed eastbound and was turning around in the roadway. Griffith vehicle was struck by a 2021 Ford F150 driven by Scott Theis, 48 of Nevada Missouri. Theis then crossed the center line and was struck head on by a 2012 Dodge Avenger driven by Renee Cox, 23 of Nevada Missouri.
Kirsten Griffith received minor injuries, the passenger in Griffith vehicle Starla Kingfisher, received moderate injuries. Both were transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center.
Scott Theis and Renee Cox both received serious injuries and were flown to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
The 2012 Ford F150 was towed from the scene by TCB Towing of Nevada. The 2021 Ford F150 and the 2012 Dodge Avenger were towed from the scene by Garwood’s Wrecker of Nevada.
