Annual district food drive set for next week
Students and staff in the Harrisonville School District will soon be collecting food for the annual food drive. This year’s drive is once again being conducted in conjunction with the HHS Drama Department’s Trick or Treat so Tots Can Eat program.
The school drive will take place the week of October 24-28 at all district buildings. The district is seeking business, church, or organization partners for each building. Community groups are invited to collect food and partner with one of the district schools. If you’re interested in being a food drive partner, please contact Jill Filer at 380-2727, ext. 1224.
The week’s theme centers on the Trick or Treat holiday with the focus on different parts of the meal for each day’s donations. Monday, October 24 is the Monster Main Dishes (tuna, pasta, beans), Tuesday, October 25 focuses on Scary Sides (canned fruits and vegetables, rice, macaroni), Wednesday, October 26 centers on Ghostly Goodies (cake/cookie mixes, sugar, flour, jello); Thursday, October 27 is Creepy Kids Food (baby food, cereal, oatmeal), and Friday, October 28 is Freaky Final Push (anything and everything, plus paper products).
Individual community members interested in participating may drop off donations at any district building or any Bright Futures Blue Barrel.
Donations will also be collected as the admission fee at the Trunk-or-Treat on the Square on Sunday, October 30 from 3-5 p.m.
All donations will be given to the Shepherd’s Staff Food Pantry sponsored by the Harrisonville Ministerial Alliance.
