Harrisonville: Districtwide food drive set for Oct. 28-31

Districtwide food drive set for Oct. 28-31

Harrisonville Students and staff in the Harrisonville School District will soon be collecting food for the annual food drive. This year’s drive is once again being conducted in conjunction with the Harrisonville High School Drama Department’s Trick or Treat so Tots Can Eat program.

Harrisonville High School  Drama Club members will be “trick-or-treating” for donations on the evening on Oct. 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the neighborhoods around the high school.

The school drive will take place the week of October 28-October 31 at all district buildings. The district is seeking business, church, or organization partners for each building. Community groups are invited to collect food and partner with one of the district schools. If you’re interested in being a food drive partner, please contact Jill Filer at 380-2727, ext. 1224.

The week’s theme centers on the Trick or Treat holiday with the focus on different parts of the meal for each day’s donations. Monday, October 28 is the Monster Main Dishes (tuna, pasta, beans), Tuesday, October 29 focuses on Scary Sides (canned fruits and vegetables, rice, macaroni), Wednesday, October 30 centers on Ghostly Goodies (cake/cookie mixes, sugar, flour, jello); and Thursday, October 31 is Creepy Kids Food (baby food, cereal, oatmeal).

Individual Harrisonville  community members interested in participating may drop off donations at any district building or any Bright Futures Blue Barrel.

Donations will also be collected as the admission fee at the Harrisonville Trunk-or-Treat on the Square on Sunday, October 27 from 3-5 p.m.

All donations will be given to the Harrisonville Shepherd’s Staff Food Pantry sponsored by the Harrisonville Ministerial Alliance.
