The annual Huckster’s Day event is set for October 3rd on the Butler Square. The event is hosted by the Butler Chamber of Commerce. There are 3 events on the agenda that will need prep time . 1st , craft booths and vendors need to notify the chamber for booth space in advance . 2nd, Those participating in the chili cook off will not be charged an entry fee.. prizes will be awarded in three categories. 3rd, the cinnamon roll contest has no cash entry fee, 13 rolls will be baked, with one for taste testing and the other dozen will be sold as the entry fee cost. There will be a baby contest and a talent contest during Huckster’s day and those entering these events will need to register at the Butler Chamber booth on the square. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
