The city of Hume will have a holiday shopping event on Sunday, December 8th, it’s the Hume Mistletoe Market. Local businesses will be open with in-store specials and there will be various vendors set up inside of the Hume School such as craft, fashion, gift, holiday and home decor, jewelry, and lots more. There will also be a free will soup and chili lunch available to help keep you energized for more shopping. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Hume After Prom Committee so they may have the money needed to provide a safe, fun environment for students after the 2020 Prom is over. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
