The community of Hume would like to extend their sympathy to the family of Dean Schoenhals. Dean was a friend to many and had run the Station in Hume for a while. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
On Saturday, August 26 the Hume Fair Board held a Fun Day in the City Park. We held events that had been rained out the last day of the fair. This time around the weather was great, the crowd was great and it was a fun day for all. We had people who enjoyed the baby show and swimsuit contest, the Alfred Mealman Horseshoe Pitch Contest, Washer Tournament. The Car Show was awesome with many beautiful vehicles.
The high light of the day was the hat auction sponsored by the Hume Alliance Ministry for the Hume Food Pantry. The Hume Alliance Ministry was so very thankful for Auctioneer Larry Hacker and all the bidders who came. A total of $2,475.00 was raised with an additional $125.00 be donated that day for a total of $2,600.00. Bill Gillette of Nevada, Missouri was the winner of the Henry Golden Boy 22 Rifle.
In the afternoon the crowd enjoyed music by Anna Spencer, Morgan Rohr and Kevin and Kathy Wood. Several took advantage of the open mic and had fun singing karaoke. It was a great day for all.
A surprise 70th Birthday party was held in honor of Vern Sword on Saturday, August 26. His daughter, Misty Bogardus pulled off the surprise with about 55 friends and family in attendance. A lot of fun and delicious food prepared by Jeff Raper was enjoyed. Happy Birthday, Vern!
Please remember the O5O Club will meet on Monday, September 18 for a carry-in dinner. We will NOT be meeting the 1st Monday of the month as it is Labor Day.
The Hume School will start on Tuesday, September 5, please watch out for kiddos going to and from school.
There will be a “Surround the School with prayer” on Sunday, September 3 at 4:00 p.m. Please meet at the school for a wonderful new school year.
