Hunters wanting to complete their Hunter Education Certification are required to complete two portions of the Hunter Education Course. The first portion is the knowledge portion, followed by the skills session.
Students may complete the knowledge portion one of three ways. Students may complete the knowledge portion by completing the Hunter Education online by going to www.mdc.mo.gov and there is a cost of $19.95 for this portion. Students may order a study guide online or pick one up at the Missouri Department of Conservation Office or the Butler Police Department, 309 N. Fulton in Butler, free of charge.
The final way to complete the knowledge portion is to register online for a four-hour knowledge based classroom session. The knowledge portion must be completed before students can attend the skills session.
Hunter education skills sessions are scheduled for hunters wanting to complete their certification and there is no charge for these classes:
- Monday, September 9th 5:00 – 9:00pm – Clinton MDC Office (660-885-6981)
- Saturday, September 14th 9:00am – 1:00pm – Rich Hill High School Ag Building, 703 N. 3rd Street
- Saturday, September 14th 8:00am – 12:00pm – El Dorado Springs MDC Office, 1109 S. Main Street
- Saturday, October 21st 5:30pm – 9:30pm – Cass County Career Center School, 1600 E. Elm Street, Harrisonville, MO
Students are required to attend / complete only one skills session. Classes or additional Hunter Education sessions offered throughout the State of Missouri can be found by going online at www.mdc.mo.gov and search for “Hunter Education Courses”.
Students must be 11 years of age or older. Registration can be done online or by calling the Missouri Department of Conservation at 660-885-6981.
