Today, December 15, 2017, the Jennings House in Butler was torn down to make way for a parking lot for the Bates County Sheriff’s Office.
It is an important time in history for Butler and Bates County as the residents say goodbye to a long standing building in the community. Those who grew up in Butler and the surrounding communities feel their hearts touched as they say goodbye to the Jennings House.
The Jennings House has stood as a wondrous 3 story white home with a beautiful front porch on the corner of Fort Scott and Delaware Streets for years. The home was a beautiful focal point of the community, and as the planks of wood came down, those in the community reminisced about the beautiful home that they remember driving past and admiring for years.
