Over the past several months, the Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission (KBRPC), has been working with area municipalities to update the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. Throughout this process, participants have worked to identify the type of natural hazards occurring within Bates County, analyze the monetary and physical impacts of these hazards, and identify action items to reduce the county’s vulnerability to these hazards. The planning team has identified a Mitigation Strategy, a list of action steps taken today to reduce the loss of life and property in the future; it believes addresses the county’s most pressing mitigation needs. With input considered from a wide range of Bates County residents, a draft version of the Bates County Hazard Mitigation Plan 2019 has been completed. The planning team invites all interested Bates County residents to review the draft plan, available at www.Kaysinger.com, and at the office of Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission. The draft version of the Bates County Hazard Mitigation Plan 2019 is available for public viewing and comment for 30 days. Residents of Bates County are encouraged to review the plan and direct any comments to Michelle Slater, KBRPC Junior Regional Planner, at mslater@kaysinger.com. Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission would like to thank all those that have participated in the planning process. The input gained during the public meetings and from public comments has been extremely helpful. These organizations believe the draft Bates County Hazard Mitigation Plan represents a strong strategy for reducing the county’s vulnerability to natural hazards.
Please contact Michelle Slater at mslater@kaysinger.com or at 660-885-3393 if any special accommodations are needed for review of the plan.
