Keep your Pets Safe in this Cold Weather

If you are too cold outside, so is your pet! There are very few exceptions to this rule, a coupe of exceptions are Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes

Dogs with short hair like Dobermans, pit bulls, etc., are even colder than most.  Even 45 degrees can be dangerous for them to be exposed to low temperatures for long periods of time.

If you absolutely cannot bring your pet inside-which is best, make sure you have an air/watertight doghouse with lots of insulation like hay and a flap to keep out the wind.  Make sure it is not sitting in cold snow.  Plastic houses can cause frostbite!

Your pets need plenty of unfrozen water, exercise, and food.

If your pet is tied up, make sure he can get to the sun and run around. It always best if you walk him/her as well.

Remember-dogs and cats are NOT wild animals and are not naturally equipped for the cold weather.
