Kevin Walker Sage, age 54 of Archie, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 following a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1967 to Christopher and Roberta Billingsley Sage in Butler, Missouri.
Kevin was raised on the family farm in Butler and liked spending time and weekends on his grandparents land in Rich Hill, Missouri. He enjoyed being with his dad and family working cows, pigs, building fence and hauling hay. He didn’t mind getting dirty. Kevin was an avid hunter and enjoyed instilling a little of this in his children, but fishing was by far his favorite hobby.
Kevin was active in FFA and 4H, showing pigs and sheep, winning many ribbons and trophies at county and state fairs. During high school he also worked alongside his dad at the sale barns in Butler and Archie. Kevin attended primary school in Columbia, Missouri and then Miami R-1 School District in Amoret, Missouri, graduating from Butler High School in 1985 where he formed many lifelong friendships. He attended the University of Missouri, Columbia and was a lifetime member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
Kevin was united in marriage to Roxana Wurtz on January 11, 1986 and enjoyed 36 years of marriage with his best friend. This union was blessed with two children, He enjoyed many Sage family vacations over the years to Branson, Denver and Lake Texoma but a few favorites were a pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota and an Alaskan land/sea cruise. While in Alaska, he was able to salmon fish with his dad who always seemed to best him while fishing.
Kevin was a welder by trade and was certified at Sullivan Education Center. He started his career off by fabricating trailers at the local feed store in Butler. He worked at Arrowhead Grating as a welder, supervisor and plant manager–then as a heavy duty repairman/carman for Mid-America Car and then later achieved his goal of working for the railroad. Kevin became a carman for Union Pacific Railroad and later for TTX. He enjoyed many friendships within the brotherhood from work.
Kevin loved being a father and grandfather to Gracie Mae Fischer and Thor Walker Sage. He talked nonstop about retirement and living the lake life. Kevin was able to enjoy lake life in the last three years with his camper and boat at Bucksaw in Clinton. He thoroughly enjoyed when family was able to be over for fishing and boat rides.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Roxy Sage of Archie, Missouri; one son, Kevin Christopher Sage and wife Ashley of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Rachel Lyn Fischer and husband Shane of Freeman, Missouri; his mother, Roberta Sage of Butler, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Gracie Mae Fischer and Thor Walker Sage.
