AC’s Biggest Tailgate Party celebrating Friday Night Lights are back will be Friday, August 30, 2019.  The event celebrates the new Bulldog Football Field and the hard work of our community.  The fun starts at 5:00 p.m. The game against Rich Hill begins at 7:30 p.m.  There will be food, fun, games, and a lot of pride in Bulldog Country. Join them for the evening as they dedicate the new football field and recognize the 1984 Bulldog football team on their 35th anniversary of finishing 2nd in the State!

West Central In-home Services will offer a Nail Clinic August 29, 2019 at two locations: North Beech Apartments, 515 N Beech Street, Appleton City, MO from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and Appleton Estates, 300 S Beech Street, Appleton City, MO from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. The cost is $10.00 and the public is invited.  Services include: foot soak, nail trim (done by a nurse if diabetic), lotion and massage, foot inspections (by a nurse) for diabetics and free blood glucose checks!  The event is brought to you by West Central Missouri Community Action Agency In-Home Health Services and Kreisler Country Pharmacy.

The Annual Labor Day Picnic at Immaculate Conception Parish (606 Kansas Ave., Montrose) will be on Monday, September 2. Come join in for a great tasting fried chicken dinner served from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Dinner and raffle ticket sales will open at 9:00 a.m. The menu includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, dressing, green beans, slaw, bread & butter pickles, homemade pie, and drink. All this is only $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-10 and free for children under 5. The dine-in dinner is served family style and outdoor dining and carryout is available. There is a huge country store open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The corn box and corn hole opens at 10:00 a.m. and cakewalk and Bingo open at 11:00 a.m. A homemade pie auction will begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by the cash and quilt raffles. They hope you will be able to come for a fun day of socializing with friends and great food!

If you like toe-tappin’, hand-clappin’ southern style country music, you won’t want to miss a Gospel concert at Ohio Christian Church Sunday night August 25, at 7:00 p.m. The Farnum Family from Galena, Mo. delivers variety with bluegrass, gospel and old time tunes, along with cowboy ballads to delight audiences. This award-winning, supremely talented family of eight brings a host of musical acumen, from banjo picking, fiddle playing and upright bass strumming to mandolin, dobro and acoustic guitar playing. And let’s not leave out finger-dancing piano music and the occasional washboard.  Fellowship follows the concert with finger foods and homemade ice cream. A freewill offering will be taken to bless the Farnum Family in their ministry of music. The Church is located on A Hwy. 10 miles west of Appleton City / 7 miles east of Lowry City. AC VFW Post 11242 is serving spaghetti for dinner at 6:30 p.m. on September 5, 2019. The post is inviting all veterans and their family to the dinner. The meal is free. The post puts on a dinner with desserts and drinks for free once a month at the First Christian Church 100 Walnut Appleton City, Mo. If interested, ask about how you can become a member of the post to help your veterans local and afar. They also help all soldiers as well.
