City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2020 in observance of Independence Day. They will re-open on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.

The Appleton City Rural Health Clinic will be closed Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day.  They will be open at regular hours starting Monday, July 6, 2020.

It is with deep regret that the Appleton City Manor and Countryside Estates have decided to cancel their Annual Independence Day Celebration.

There will be a 4th of July Event at Chopper Stoppers Grill and Bar, Vikings Post 545, 1020 SW Pence Ave in Roscoe. There will be a horseshoe tournament at 11:00 a.m. and lawnmower races at 2:00 p.m. as well as a dunk tank, bounce house, cake walk, any many more games at 4:00 p.m.  Fireworks start at 9:00 p.m. There will be food available: hamburgers, hotdogs, walking tacos, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and more. Bring your lawn chairs. The proceeds go to Saint Nicholas Day for the kids, December 6.

The 16th Annual Appleton City Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show will be held Saturday, July 11 at the City Park.  Check-in is from 8:00 a.m. to noon and the Car Show will be from noon to 3:00 p.m.  This year, please turn north on the street on the east side of the park. Circle the park and come in the normal entrance. They will collect the $10 entrance fee and hand out entry forms as you enter the park. They will collect the entry form later from your windshield. There will be judging for all classes with the top 70 for cars and trucks, top 3 for motorcycles and top 3 for rat rods. The first 150 entries will be given dash plaques.  D.J. Brandon Wallace will present music on the stage.  There will also be a 50-50 drawing and door prizes.  Food concessions, biscuits & gravy and cobbler & ice cream will be available. Proceeds from the Show will go toward a pair of $1000 scholarships for local high school students.  In addition, Zink Motor Co, which is one of the oldest Ford dealerships in the country, is hosting the Kansas City Antique Car Clu8b at the dealership in Appleton City during the car show.  20-25 Model A’s and Model T’s will be on display. There will be an open house and tours of this historic dealership.  The admission is free.  The location for this show is across the street from the Appleton City Car Show.  For car show information, email to appletoncitycarshow@yahoo.com. Appleton City Rural Health Clinic is announcing FREE sports physicals 2 days in July.  Physicals will be offered Wednesday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  These days are by appointment only.  Jamie O’Farrell, FNP and Kenny Maus, CNP will conduct the physicals.  Physical forms (available at the Clinic) must be signed by a parent or guardian. Montrose VFW is selling Fireworks June 29-July 3 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., July 4 9:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. July 5 -7 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Montrose VFW will have a bake sale July 3 8:00 a.m. Come get some treats and fireworks for your holiday celebrations. Thank you for supporting the VFW

St. Clair County Cattlemen’s monthly meeting will be 7:30 p.m.  July 14.  Valley Center Church will be hosting the meeting at the Boy Scout Building in Lowry City MO.  The speaker will be Mike Deering of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Assn. The sponsor is Terry Cook of Farmer’s Elevator.

DownDog Fitness at 105 E 4th Street in Appleton City has added another senior focused class to their group fitness schedule. The new class, titled “Staying Strong with Yoga”, is the perfect compliment to the gym’s traditional Staying Strong class. This gentle yoga flow can be done on a mat or with a chair and helps with balance and stability. Farmhouse Kitchen and Sumo’s Pub will be closed July 3 – July 6.  They will open July 7 for regular operating hours.

Fish Man Food Truck will be beside the Montrose VFW building June 29-July 3 and July 6-7 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They will serve fish dinners, fresh breaded tenderloins, etc.
