After 30 years of dedicated service to Bates County Memorial Hospital, Mark Jones, RPh was honored with a retirement party on December 21, 2021.
Mark graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in 1975. Prior to joining BCMH, Mark worked in retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical sales and as a clinical pharmacist at a state hospital.
Mark began his employment with BCMH in October of 1991 as the director of the pharmacy department. Mark relates that he was happy to have his wife as his mentor, who at that time was the Director of Pharmacy at the Nevada, Mo. Hospital.
Today, the department employs six staff members, but Mark remembers when it was just him, and one pharmacy tech, Dana Hilbus.
“The two of us worked for several years prior to hiring another tech and eventually another pharmacist. We can remember typing labels on a typewriter and mixing syringe antibiotics by the hundreds. My, how things have changed.”
Mark and his wife Tami live in Raymore, Mo. They have three sons, and seven awesome grandchildren, one of which lives a couple of blocks from them.
“That is how we will spend our retirement, along with some travel,” Mark reported. He also hopes to get in a few rounds of golf, and some golf outings with his sons. Mark was honored at his retirement party with a beautiful clock, presented by Greg Weaver, Chief Executive Officer.
