McCarthy Transferred to Jackson County

According to Henry County Sheriff Kent Oberkrom, Ian James McCarthy was transferred on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 to the custody of the Jackson County Jail in Kansas City, Missouri.

McCarthy’s criminal case was transferred to Jackson County a few weeks ago on a change of venue.  “State law provides for the housing of inmates in the county where the venue is changed to for the purposes of trial”, Sheriff Oberkrom said.

Ian James McCarthy was one of the suspects in the shooting and death of Clinton Officer Gary Michael. McCarthy was charged on August 7, 2017 with Count I Class A Felony Murder 1st Degree and Count II Class U Felony Armed Criminal Action.
