Students at McEowen Elementary School in Harrisonville made sure their hard work added up to something special for children in need.
The students participated in math-a-thon in January and raised more than $6,775.00 for Children’s Mercy Hospital. The students collected pledges based on the number of problems completed in a math booklet.
The funds raised are designated for the Child Life program at Children’s Mercy in memory of Cade Filer. Child Life’s purpose is to help the children who are spending time at CMH continue to be children. Child Life also provides education for both the child and family to help them feel more at ease with medical procedures.
Over the last eleven years, McEowen students have raised over $53,000 for Children’s Mercy Hospital.
The math-a-thon was organized by McEowen Counselor Taylor Chandler and teacher Missy Eddleman.
