The Annual McGennis Youth Center BBQ, auction and car and truck show is Sunday, September 29th. Vehicle registration is from 12 to 1 pm. Events start at 12:30 and include kid games, horse-drawn wagon rides, bbq lunch and auction. Cost for the meal is $10 for adults and $6 for kid’s 6 to 12. McGennis Youth Center is located 5 miles west of Rich Hill on A Hwy and then 4 miles south on WW Hwy. For more information call 660-832-4196. |

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
