Miami County Sheriff’s Deputies are Looking for Car Thief that Fired on Subjects in a Vehicle

On September 22nd the Miami County Kansas Sheriffs Office received a 911 phone call from a reporting party stating they were following a vehicle that had been stolen from them a few days prior.


The reporting party was north on Old Kansas City Road north of the Paola City limits. The vehicles continued north on Old Kansas City Road until they came up on W. 255th Street where they turned west.

As the vehicles approached the Hillsdale Lake Dam on 255th, the suspect vehicle turned around and fired shots at the victim before fleeing the area. The reporting party last saw the vehicle in the area of W. 255th Street and Harmony Rd. The reporting party wasn’t injured.


When deputies arrived on scene they checked the area for the vehicle but were unable to locate it. Air units from the Kansas State Highway Patrol responded to the area and were also unable to located the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle we are looking for is described as a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado bearing a Kansas antique tag of 284-413. The vehicle has black primer on both driver and passenger sides and a temporary tag in the rear window.


The suspect is described as a white male with long dark hair, mustache and goatee. He was wearing gray or blue hoodie and is believed to be armed and dangerous and shouldn’t be approached. Call 911 Immediately if see this suspect or the vehicle in question.
