New Sargent of Patrol appointed at the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher announced on Friday that Deputy Zesar Huerta has
been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Huerta is working towards his Associates
Degree in Business Management and should be finished next semester. Sgt. Huerta
started out as a correctional officer with Cimarron Correctional Facility in Oklahoma.
After graduating from the police academy at MSSU in 2017, Sgt. Huerta joined the
Vernon County Sheriff’s Office. Since that time, Sgt. Huerta has held the county Dare
officer position as well as being a Field Training Officer. Sheriff Mosher said, “Deputy
“Z”, as he is commonly known by the kids in the schools, never hesitates to stop and talk
to the kids, help someone change a tire or be a listening ear. I know in this new position
he’ll continue to be a great asset to our community.”
