On February 13, 2022, at approximately 10:50am, a 911 call was received at the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. The caller stated that her ex-husband came to her rural Mound City, Ks. home and threatened her and others at the home. The caller stated the male had a rifle with him and he brandished the gun during the threat. The subject then left the residence as family members were notifying law enforcement. Linn County Deputies arrived at the scene, took the report at set out to locate the alleged suspect. Linn County Deputies located his vehicle at a rural Blue Mound residence. The alleged suspect is known to have violent tendencies, so a perimeter of the property was established. Negotiations with the alleged suspect were met with negative results. Linn County Deputies surrounded the home; the man exited the residence, and he was taken into custody without incident. Warrants are pending for the arrest of the subject. Further information will be available upon issuance of the warrant. Subsequently, a search warrant was obtained for the property and the weapon that was allegedly used during the incident was recovered in the subject’s vehicle.

Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
