The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to a two-car accident on MO 52 at Chestnut Avenue in Appleton City on Saturday, May 21st at 9:10pm.
The accident occurred when a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by Kraig Hughes 33 of Butler, struck the rear of a 2012 Nissan Sentra, driven by Johnny Cates 52 of Butler.
Mr. Cates sustained serious injuries and was flown to Research Medical Hospital in Kansas City.
Mr. Hughes drove his vehicle from the scene, the Nissan was towed from scene by Bray’s Towing of Osceola.
