The annual Papinville Historical and Cemetery Association Picnic was held on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Around 100 people from all over the state of Missouri enjoyed the day.
Everyone enjoyed the Heart Felt Band and Friends as they played music all during the afternoon. The band was made up of Wes and Sharon (Coonce) Danner and their daughter, Lesli Hart. Kathy (Coonce) Stewart, Ivan and Martha Parton, Butch Eddington and Merle Teigen.
About 25 people enjoyed the talk and wagon ride about the history of the floods in this area. A thank you, to Phyllis Stewart, the Papinville activity director, for all the hard work and research she put into this well received project. Thanks again to Don Pipin and Chris for providing our wagon rides again this year.
Jack Bondon, State Representative, from northern Bates and Cass counties came and represented our Representative, He presented to Deb Swarnes a framed Missouri State resolution honoring Mr. Swarnes for all his support to the Papinville community and all other communities that he has supported through out his life.
Other activities enjoyed during the afternoon were, silent auction, cake walk and new this year was a petting zoo. A special thanks to those who took care of these: Clare Klinksick, Lori Stewart, Jerry Stangel, Montana Stangel and Lisa Swarnes. The Papinville pie contest winners were: Kathy Heuser, Linda Howard, Rita McGuire, Phyllis Stewart, Montana Stangel, Pam Wingate, Katlyn Schapler, Clayanna Johnson and Catharine Stangel. The pie auction was presided over by Larry and Loretta Hacker.
The Papinville Picnic drawing for the quilt and afghan was held at 6:00 and the winners were: the quilt was won by Brenda Hatton.
The following businesses donated: O’Reilly Auto Parts, Car Quest, Flaming Lantern, Heimans Agri Services, Stoplight Market, Sandy’s Herb and Spice Shop, The Carpenter’s Cup, Dr. and Mrs. James Miller all of Butler. Citizens Bank, Rich Hill Café, Heuser’s Hardware, West Central Agri Services and Food Fair all of Rich Hill. Rick and Linda Jagels, Marvin and Doris Null, Bud and Nancy Fillpot, and Alvina Harrison Wells.
