During the evening of May 21st, Vernon County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Walnut Street in Deerfield, MO.
According to Sheriff’s Office Official’s, while searching the area, deputies noticed a window broken out of a local business. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said that while Deputies were speaking to the business representative, (who identified items missing from the business), they received another call of a suspicious person near the post office.
Vernon County Deputies responded to the area and made contact with 38-year-old Jeffery Carter. During the investigation, Deputies located items, described by the owner, in Carter’s possession.
On 5-22-2022, the Courts issued a warrant charging Carter with 2nd Degree Burglary, Stealing and 2nd Degree Property Damage. Carter is currently being held at the Vernon County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. Sheriff Mosher said he was glad the Vernon County Deputies were able to locate the broken window and the missing items taken from the business.
