The 26th Annual Country Christmas in Rich Hill is Saturday, November 9th. Stores and vendors will be open for your holiday shopping pleasure from 9 to 2 pm. This is a fun event for all ages to get a jump on your holiday shopping. There have been a couple new things added this year such as an ornament making station and donuts with Santa, plus you will be able to purchase a picture with Santa. The following are just a few of the businesses and stops open during this event: Food Fair Supermarket, Swopes Drive-In, Schlyer Designs, 49 Floral and Trent’s BBQ which is where Santa will be. The craft and vendor booths have been moved this year to the High School Auditorium and Cafeteria located at 703 North 3rd Street. Come out and join in the holiday shopping fun on Saturday, November 9th for the 26th Annual Country Christmas in Rich Hill. Maps will be available at all stops to show you where to shop. Bates County Broadcasting opened as a single day-time station on May 11th 1962. Broadcasting from sunrise to sunset 7-days each week. This was the first radio station to broadcast in the Bates County Area. Owned and Operated by Bill Thornton and his brother Jerry Thornton.
In 1975 the FM Frequency was added and the stations simulcast. The FM has a 24 hours license but just broadcast from 6 am until 10 pm.
