Rich Hill Police Department Press Release: Stabbing in Rich Hill

On December 17, 2017 at approximately 2:19pm the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the Rich Hill Police Department in responding to the report of a stabbing in the 700 block of East Walnut Street in Rich Hill.

Officers made contact with the victim: Monty C. Fish of Rich Hill. Fish was transported by ambulance to the Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler.

The suspect, Leon D. Berry, was located at his residence in the 400 block of South 6th Street and was taken into custody. Berry was then transported to the Bates County Jail where his was booked-in and is being held on a 24 hour investigation hold for assault with a dangerous weapon. Charges are pending.

It was discovered that the stabbing actually occurred in the 500 block of East Myrtle Street at the victim’s residence in Rich Hill.
