FM-92 has received word that the Rich Hill Youth Development Center has been closed by the state. The closure is allegedly the result of a lack of state funds caused by COVID-19. The center was a facility with the Missouri Division of Youth Services located in Rich Hill and was a residential treatment facility for boys ages 11 to 17.
The mission of the Division of Youth Services is to enable youth to fulfill their needs in a responsible manner within the context of and with respect for the needs of self, family, and community. The Rich Hill facility housed 8 young men who have been transferred to other facilities within the state and it provided approximately 20 full-time jobs within the community.
FM-92 will continue to follow this story and provide more official information as it becomes available.
