On 9/11/21 Deputies were in the Rich Hill area patrolling. A Bates County Sheriff’s deputy observed a subject that they had identified earlier as a wanted subject. Bates County Deputies made contact with the subject on Elm Street and took the subject into custody. The subject was identified as Tommy Runions 11/29/1987 of Rich Hill. Runions had an active warrant for Stealing and Property damage.
Runions was initially placed in the rear of a caged vehicle until other units arrived. Runions was then removed from the vehicle to be searched prior to transporting to the Bates County Jail. Upon removing Runions from the vehicle they observed a black bag in the caged area of the patrol vehicle. Upon searching the black bag they observed a glass pipe and baggy with a crystal like substance. A field test of the crystal substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
Runions was transported to the Bates County Jail on his warrant and additional charges are being submitted to the Bates County Prosecuting Attorney
