Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel Covid-19 Public Announcement

Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel
Covid-19 Public Announcement

The health and safety of our families, guests, and employees is our top priority. The Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel will be altering some of our normal business practices effective March 18 until further notice.

We want to assure you that the Schowengerdt family is taking proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. We are closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention <https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html#funerals>  statements, along with Missouri and Kansas Divisions of Public Health/Boards of Funeral Service, as well as the National Funeral Directors Association and Missouri Funeral Directors Association regarding COVID-19 cases.

As professionals in death care, it is our social responsibility and with respect of federal and state guidelines, we will be encouraging families to have private or invitation-only services without visitations.  As always, we will discuss all available options (including recording and potentially live-streaming) with our families and collectively decide the best and most safe option.

We courteously request that all visitors to the Chapel practice social distancing.  In an effort to minimize direct contact, we ask that you avoid shaking hands or physical contact with the members of the family or other guests and staff. Direct eye contact, loving words, and a warm smile can be as meaningful to the families as a traditional handshake or hug, especially during these difficult times.

Proper and frequent hand washing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses.  Additional hand sanitizer has been placed at the register book area and any of our meeting/arrangement rooms. We use cleaning and disinfecting protocols to clean our chapel, offices, lounge, and restrooms before and after each service–with particular attention paid to high touch items like knobs, faucets, chairs and other communal areas.

Please respect our community by refraining from visiting the funeral home at this time if you have been in contact with an ill person or are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath.

Until further notice, we will not have a public paper register book for you to sign. However, you may call the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel at 660-679-6555 and our staff will be happy to sign for you.  A better option is to leave a condolence on our website at www.schowengerdtchapel.com <http://www.schowengerdtchapel.com> .

More information will be available as the situation changes.  We appreciate your support and patience during this unprecedented health crisis.

If you have any questions about the funeral home operations, please feel free to contact Gary, Trev, or Jesse Schowengerdt at schowengerdtfc@embarqmail.com or (660) 679-6555.
