On Thursday, August 25, 2019, around 11:00 p.m. Deputy Tyler Sands from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. The vehicle failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and continued to travel eastbound on Highway 52. Upon entering Calhoun, the vehicle lost control on a curve, overcorrected and struck an occupied house.
The driver, Tyler Reed, age 21, Clinton was transported by ambulance with serious injuries. The occupant of the home was not injured. Reed was driving on a suspended license and is on probation for a drug-related conviction. The vehicle was also found to be stolen from the Kansas City area on or about August 24, 2019, and had been pursued by the Missouri Highway Patrol on that same day in Cass County.
