Telehealth Now Offered at BCMH Family Care Clinics

Telehealth Now Offered at BCMH Family Care Clinics

March 23, 2020 – Bates County Memorial Hospital is now offering telehealth visits for Family Care Clinics. This new service allows us to take care of our patients remotely as much as possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

Telehealth allows you to have a virtual video visit with a health care provider from your home using an online service called ZOOM on your smartphone, or on your laptop or computer with camera and microphone capabilities.

Telehealth visits will be offered at this time for urgent care visits only and is available to new OR established Family Care Clinic patients. Call the Family Care Clinic scheduling number at 660-200-3627, and our staff will help you determine whether a telehealth consultation is a good fit for your needs. They will also send you a link to connect to the virtual visit appointment.

Keep in mind that health care provider choice will be limited. You may not be able to choose the provider of your choice. If you normally pay a copay for a clinic visit, you will be billed for the copay amount instead.

The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) have indicated they will cover the cost of telehealth visits for Medicare and Medicaid patients. If you have commercial insurance, your telehealth insurance may or may not be covered, depending on your individual plan. To find out, call the phone number of your commercial insurance carrier, located on your insurance card.

Telehealth allows you to stay home if at all possible to avoid spreading illness or possibly being infected with another illness. If you have a respiratory illness and feel you need emergency care, please call 911, or call ahead to our emergency department at 660-200-7070 so they can prepare for your visit.
