The Parents of the Appleton City Junior class are hosting a fundraiser for the Appleton City After Prom 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 7.
Kickin’ Chicken by Robert Perrymann will be available for carry out orders only. Please call ahead call ahead or text 660-492-3851 by 10:30 a.m.
for orders to be picked up in the circle drive of the AC School. Drive thru orders can be placed behind the school at the cafeteria door. The $10.00 per person meal includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, homemade rolls and dessert.
Montrose Athletic Booster Club’s Kickin’ Chicken Fundraiser Dinner has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 6 from 5:00—8:30 (or until sold out) at Montrose High School—curbside to go service ONLY. $10 per plate includes 2 pieces Perrymann fried chicken (choice of white or dark meat), mashed potatoes and gravy (on side), green beans, roll, and chocolate sheet cake. Sorry NO Special Orders and NO Children’s Menu.
Appleton City Masonic Lodge #412 will have its annual spring pancake and sausage breakfast Sunday February 14 from 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The meal is all you can eat for $5.00 inside. Curbside pickup will be available. There will also be raffles for cash prizes.
Montrose High School Class of 2022 is hosting a Valentine’s Breakfast Sunday, February 14 from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Montrose VFW Hall. Let them do the cooking for your sweetheart. The menu includes scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, cinnamon rolls, coffee, milk or juice. This is a free will donation, with all proceeds benefiting the Class of 2022
Sumo’s Pub will have a dinner for two Valentine’s Day dinner special Friday evening February 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The special dinner includes spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips for an appetizer, 2 -12 oz. KC strip steaks or boiled shrimp with choice of potato, salad and texas toast. Desert will feature lemon raspberry tower cake for $49.99. Call 660-476-2300 for reservations or more information.
Immaculate Conception Church, Montrose, will serve their Lenten Fish Fry Dinners February 19, March 5 and 19. They will be doing curbside orders to go only. The meals contain fish, suzy q’s, cole slaw and a cookie. More information will be available later.

It is once again time for any non-profit organization to write an essay to possibly win the Elva Gwinn Huffman Quilt contest. Your essay should tell about your group, what you would use the proceeds from this quilt for, and how you would use the quilt to raise the funds. Any question may be asked at 660-598-2222 during normal business hours. The drawing will be April 2, so essays should reach them before March 31, 2021.

Emerald Ash Borer continues to advance across Missouri, devastating ash trees as it goes. An on-line Zoom class to learn about where it is located, how to identify, how to control and when to start controls to help prevent its infestation will be held Monday, March 8, at 6:00 p.m. Jon Skinner, Missouri Department of Conservation Community Forester, will guide you through the answers to these questions on this free, on-line class offered through University of Missouri Extension. The ACHS Alumni Scholarship Foundation, Inc. will award five $1,000 scholarships, at least one each to a traditional college and one to a vocational/trade school. There is no grade point requirement. A short paragraph is all that is required. The DEADLINE is March 9. See the ACHS Counselor for more information.
