The Appleton City R-II School District will be placing Proposition KIDS on the April 6 ballot. The district is asking the patrons of the school district to authorize an increase in the operating levy by $.50 per one hundred dollars of their assessed valuation through the year 2040.  These funds would allow the district to provide funds for repair and replacement of roofs, upgrades to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; improving and upgrading handicap accessibility district-wide; remodeling of the elementary school, improving and expanding the agriculture facilities in the district, completion of other renovations and repair improvements to existing facilities, and to meet the additional operating needs of the district. The tax levy committee, comprised of committee members Katy Brownsberger, Garrett Hawkins, Jennifer Hawkins, Cindy McDaniel, Tracy Parsons, Kevin Post, Linda Schleuter, Janet Payton and Craig Siegismund have been working since early last fall to fine-tune this language, as well as prepare the capital improvement plan to be presented to the public.  This committee will be hosting four round-table community forums during the month of March for community members to learn more about this levy and its impact on the school.  These sessions will include personal Q/A sessions and a visual presentation.  Please plan to attend one of the four sessions!  The committee has also created a Facebook page which can be found by searching “Appleton City Proposition KIDS.” Information, including pictures and videos of current issues at the school, can be found online by going to https://acr2levy.weebly.com/  Forums are scheduled for Thursday, March 4, ACHS Gym, 6:00–7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, Ohio Christian Church, 3:00–4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, Rockville City Hall, 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 28, ACHS Gym, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
