Appleton City Public Works Department will conduct “smoke” testing on sewers over the next several weeks. A special non-toxic smoke is used in these tests and leaves no residuals or stains and has no effects on plant and/or animal life. Letters were sent out to every home regarding this, however, if you have any questions you may contact City Hall.
Appleton City Park Board invites the public to join them in recognizing Ted McDaniel for his many years of leadership and service with a reception 5:00-6:30 p.m. Monday September 13 at 4th Street Fika (103 E. 4th Street, AC, MO). The September Park Board meeting will immediately follow at Forest Park. The public is welcome there as well.
The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday September 11. All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship. Cole Heiserman will have a short devotional.
The Knights of Columbus will have a breakfast buffet with their pancake and sausage plus scrambled eggs and hash browns, coffee, juice or milk at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday September 12 from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. All proceeds will go to a benefit for the Keon Engeman and Owen Westhusing families. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated.
The AC Fall City Wide Garage Sale dates are set for September 24 – 25. Permits are $5 and can be purchased at City Hall beginning September 13 through noon on Wednesday, September 22. Permits to set up in the AC Park are $25 for the pole shelter, $15 for the stage, $10 for lawn permits and these fees cover both days. Park permits can also be purchased at City Hall on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved by phone. Maps will be available at Food Fair, Powell’s True Value & Casey’s beginning Thursday afternoon. House of Joy Ministry will be at the City Park Saturday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. to pick up donations. Another showing of the AC Documentary movie is being offered 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19 at the Baptist Church. If you missed it during the Sesquicentennial celebration, or would like to watch it again, now is your opportunity. .
Join evangelist Richard Woodruff at River of Life Fellowship in Rockville, MO for two powerful services on Sunday, September 12. Morning worship begins at 10:15 a.m. with Brother Woodruff sharing in song and the Word, as well as a special evening service at 6:00 p.m. Bring friends and family to hear a NOW word from the Lord. They will take a love offering for WCF ministries. They will enjoy a fellowship dinner after the morning service, and light snacks following the evening fellowship. All are welcome to attend.

Children ages 0-5 are invited to Story Hour at the AC Public Library beginning September 9. They meet 11:00 a.m. Thursday mornings. They have story time, a craft, and a snack. Learning to love books is essential to learning to read, plus your children learn social skills and motor skills.
St. Clair Co Health Department reports 1035 positive COVID-19 cases as of September 3, 2021 in the county with 11 current cases. Appleton City has had 23 positive cases from August 8 to September 5. More information is available at http://www.scchcmo.net/covid-2.html.
DbarJ Quilts etc., Rockville MO, is having a drawing for a patriotic quilt to be given to a veteran on Veteran’s Day. Any veteran can add their name, or have someone add your name to the drawing. There is no cost to have your name in the drawing, as you have already paid the price. Just come to the quilt shop and sign your name and a phone number where you can be reached, or give the information to Marge Zink. If you know a veteran, let them know about this.
