As the General Election rapidly approaches, mail-in ballots and some absentee ballots must be notarized and the Henry County Democrat Club is offering a final Free Drive-up Notary Event Saturday October 17. Mail-In Ballots can only be mailed to the local election authority (County Clerk) and must be received by 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Votes that are not received by that time will not be counted. This free mail-in ballot notary event will be on the East Side of the Clinton Square outside the Switzer Law Office (136 S. Main, Clinton) Saturday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Voters can choose to bring their mail-in ballot into the law office to be notarized but will also be greeted outside and can have their ballot notarized in their car. Voters must bring state or federally-issued legal photo identification (such as a driver’s license or identification card). Face coverings are requested to ensure safety for the voters and the notaries. After the mail-in ballot is notarized, the voter should immediately deliver the ballot to the U.S. Post Office around the corner to ensure vote safety and ensure that the ballot arrives in time to be counted. Once the vote is submitted by absentee or a mail-in ballot, it is illegal for the voter to vote again in-person at the polls. If you have any questions about the mail-in ballot process, please contact the Henry County Clerk (660) 885-7204 or the Missouri Secretary of State at (573)751-4936.
