It would be an “Act of Kindness” during the Christmas Season to remember our local service people serving in the military with a Christmas Card.  You can tell them who you are or belong to, classmate, know relatives, or whatever might tell them about your connection in AC. If you would like to add names of AC area service people to the list, email acmolampkin@yahoo.com, subject “military”. The list will be published in the near future.

The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday November 13.  All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship.   Delbert Scott will have a short devotional. 

The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, November 14 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.  Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated

City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day and Thursday November 25 and Friday November 26 for Thanksgiving.

The Montrose Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Germantown Turkey Shoot on Sunday November 28, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Germantown ball field. Tickets are $3.00 each and advance sale tickets will enter the purchaser into a drawing for 1 of 4 cash prizes. There will be a youth line shot every hour. Tickets are available in Appleton City at Dr. Payton’s office, Fennewald Plumbing or any Knights members.

The AC Public Library is conducting their Friends of the Best Sellers Program until November 20, 2021. The purpose is to fund the purchase of new hardback books for the library. You can become a friend by either choosing a book from the list, or requesting another book you’ve wanted to read and then donating $20.00 for said book. The perks of being a Friend to the library are that you will be the first person to check the book out, you’ll have the opportunity to read other books purchased by Friends first and you will be honored by having your name placed on a special nameplate in the front of each of the Library Friend books. Library hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to noon.

The 25th Annual Christmas in the Country will be Saturday, December 4, 2021.  The Depot Craft Show, sponsored by the Appleton City Museum, will feature returning popular artisans with their handmade items and space for a few more.  Contact Patty Bartz at 660-598-4151 for information.

The PTO is organizing events at the High School Gym with a Holiday Shopping Extravaganza and a Baked Potato Lunch served by the Hudson Hustlers 4-H Club in the High School commons area. Call Jennifer Hawkins at 417-359-3849 for info on these events.  New events and open houses are encouraged throughout the day. Christmas in the Country has become a community event that supporters look forward to each year.  It provides an opportunity to shop locally for those on your Christmas list and enjoy the Christmas Spirit right here in Appleton City. If you want your Christmas Open House or event listed in the flyers and advertising, please send information to Susan Rotert at 660-464-0288 no later than November 18. 

The first organizational meeting of a new 4-H club forming in St. Clair County will be Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church at 505 Walnut Street in Osceola. Everyone is welcome. Come and be part of a dynamic youth organization where youth have opportunities to gain leadership, citizenship and life skills, all while having fun, making new friends and taking part in hands-on activities. AC Rural Health Clinic now has both the high dose flu Shot and the low dose flu shots. Both are an inactivate influenza vaccine indicated for active immunization against influenza disease caused by influenza virus sub types A & B, (H1N1)(H3N2). Contraindication is for persons allergic to egg proteins. Low dose is Fluarix Quadrivalent for patients ages 6 month-65 yrs.  High dose is Fluzone High Dose Quadrivalent for ages 65+. These are the recommendations for the 2021- 22 seasons.  Flu shots can be given without an appointment or provider visit. Call the clinic at 660-476-2121 with any questions. Please bring your Medicare or insurance card with you and they will file for insurance benefits.

AC Elementary PTO sponsored “Puzzle Race” scheduled for Saturday, November 13, has been cancelled.

AC Second Saturday event has been cancelled for November 13.

Farmhouse Kitchen & Sumo’s Pub will be closed November 9- 15.
