Trash day for this week will be on FRIDAY, November 26.  Be sure to have your trash cart at the curb BY 7:00 a.m.

City Hall will be closing at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 24 and will be closed November 25 and 26 for Thanksgiving.

The 2021 AIM’s Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday, November 27 at the Montrose Community Building. Arthur Christmas will be playing on the Big Screen at the Montrose Community Building starting at 5:30 p.m. Concessions will be available, hosted by the Montrose JH/HS Cheer Squad and are a free will donation. At 7:00 p.m., the Grand Lighting Ceremony will take place on Main Street. Immediately following the Lighting will be the Christmas Parade. The Montrose Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Germantown Turkey Shoot Sunday November 28, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Germantown ball field. Tickets are $3.00 each and advance sale tickets will enter the purchaser into a drawing for 1 of 4 cash prizes. Two raffles will be held the day of the shoot for 2 shotguns. There will be a youth line shot every hour. Tickets are available in Appleton City at Dr. Payton’s office, Fennewald Plumbing or any Knights members.

AN ACT OF KINDNESS to show your appreciation to our area serviceman, please MAIL A CHRISTMAS CARD to servicemen’s names that were received. Some are stationed a long way from Appleton City.  Tell them who you are, belong to, classmate of parents, know your grandparents, etc.  Whatever you can tell them about your connection in AC. Just signing a name leaves them wondering who this is.

The 25th Annual Christmas in the Country will be Saturday, December 4, 2021.  The Depot Craft Show, sponsored by the AC Museum, will feature returning popular artisans with their handmade items and space for a few more.  Contact Patty Bartz at 660-598-4151 for information. New events and open houses are encouraged throughout the day. Christmas in the Country has become a community event that supporters look forward to each year.  It provides an opportunity to shop locally for those on your Christmas list and enjoy the Christmas Spirit in AC.

Hudson Hustler’s 4-H Club will host its annual Loaded Baked Potato Bar at ACHS Commons from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4 with the Christmas in the Country activities. Vendors are wanted at 5th Annual AC PTO Holiday Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the AC High School gym and commons area.  There will be a variety of vendors ready to share their holiday specials.  If you are interested in being a vendor, contact Jennifer Hawkins at or 417-359-3846.  Also, follow AC Elementary PTO Facebook page to find additional information. There will be hourly door prizes (need not be present to win) and the event is free of charge for the community to attend.  Donations will be accepted, as this event is earmarked to help continue the PTO’s campaign of capital improvements to the school.

Appleton City Hosts “A Whoville Christmas” Parade December 4 starting at 4:00 p.m., in conjunction with Christmas in the Country festivities.  Groups, individuals, etc. interested in being in the parade, please let Lyndsi Davis Rivera know by texting her at 660-4642575.

St. Mary’s School in Montrose is having their annual Fall Fiesta Fundraiser dinner 5:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4. This is a free will donation dinner that includes tacos with fixings, dessert, and drink. They will also have games/crafts, a silent auction (bidding will close at 8:00 p.m.) and basket and 50-50 raffles (drawings will be held December 13). They appreciate your continued support of St. Mary’s School.
